India's election schedule has been announced by the Indian Election Commission. Polls will held in more extended number of phases in many states like Odisha and West Bengal. These two states will see cut throat competition between current ruling parties in the States and Bhartia Janata Party (BJP).

The election in West Bengal will be held in 7 phases. last time in 2014 it was held in 5 phases. In Odisha election will be held in four phases up from two in 2014. More phases allow the Election Commission to focus on the integrity of the election and deployment of necessary Central Security Forces for stopping poll rigging.

Who will really benefit from extended number of phases in Indian election. The common perception is it will be BJP. But in reality it can be different in a State like West Bengal.

Current Chief Minister Mamta Bannerjee will like to her party people focus on a smaller segment to carry the poll on her side. That helps her. However, BJP can bring Modi in several times in the State and target voters with any terror issues. At the end it will be people of India that will decide in a mega scale what will happen.
