3 M’s triumph as Manmohan Singh join the ranks of Mugabe and Musharraf – the ultimate wisdom of politics – intimidation and bribery
It was Saddam Hussein that taught the world how to intimidate and use bribery to come and stay in power. Eventually, he was disposed of by the United States as he could not provide a big enough ‘carrot and stick’ to the superpower. After that, the technique has been championed by the three notorious ‘M’s in the world – Mugabe, Musharraf and now Manmohan Singh.
All of them have stayed in power with the help of intimidation, bribery, and corruption, trying to woo western power blocks for their money and prestige. All the 3 ‘M’s at some stage were backed by the Bush Administration.
The tactics of intimidation and bribery are well known as the political ‘carrots and sticks’. But what happened in India is sad. Indians are relatively poor but very proud of personal and political freedom. When Indian democracy was ‘raped’ with money and brutal force right in the middle of Indian Parliament to ‘okay’ a questionable deal with America under the Bush Administration, Indians were shocked for the first time like never before.
In the late seventies, India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi used emergency rules to stay in power. India’s common people, no matter how hungry and poor they were, did not tolerate the outright violation of Indian democracy. In an election, Indira Gandhi was thrown out of power and put in Tihar jail.
India is not Pakistan or Zimbabwe. Indian Military will not back the outright insult to democracy. But what we have found is that India can be a worse place than Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Indian politicians are like ‘dogs’. Throw at them $6.25 million and you can buy India out.
The greed and lack of genuine patriotism is wide spread from Bollywood to outsourcing capitals of India. If people do not have pride in who they are, the downfall of a nation is inevitable. That is how Indian Kings sold mother India to the British. That is also how Manmohan Singh delivered mother India’s nuclear freedom to the western superpowers.
What is really bothersome is that India’s Manmohan now is part of the 3 M axis of evil that will be known in history as the dark side of world democracy and decency.
